Well, we made it to the Festival Of Trees despite the snow storm. I'm glad we did. It's always so cool! Inevitably I end up crying at some of the "tribute" trees, laughing at the upside-down, Star Wars, and other crazy trees, and wishing I had money to buy the beautiful trees. The kids got to sit on Santa's lap and were super excited {I was, too. Saved me a trip to the mall! BTW, can someone warn me how to get my kids to stop the fake smiling in every picture?!}. Kensie's favorite tree was the mini princess tree, of course!

Inside Day
Eddie The Elf
This morning Eddie the Elf appeared on our doorstep. We were minding our own business when the doorbell rang. We found him sitting on the porch with a note. The kids were beyond excited, especially after reading the note. They looked outside in the snow for elfish footprints, but none were found {he's magical, after all}. We're all trying to be good because we know he's watching.....hopefully he'll have a good report for Santa.

DECISIONS, DECISIONS
So, I decided to forgo my traditional homemade Christmas cards this year for one's I made on Photoshop {hey, they're still technically homemade}. I know, I know....you're very disappointed, you look forward to my card every year, how will you live without a paper-trimmed, glue sticked, lavishly embellished masterpiece?! Get over it! J/K!! Seriously though, my scrapbooking stuff is in such disarray in the basement that I don't think I could have made cards if I wanted to. I ended up making three different cards and just can't decide which one to use. I thought I'd give you a sneak peek and let you vote on which one you like best. Who knows, maybe I'll end up using all of them. I may try to get a better picture of the kids, too, but that may be as good as it gets {especially since I have no camera at the moment!}. I've come to realize that it's impossible to get a picture where they all look good. So, what do you think?

A picture's worth a thousand words
There have been numerous occasions in the past week that should have been captured on my camera. But the flash on my camera is no longer working, making every picture I try to take either a blurry mess, or a dark and gloomy mess. Therefore, I have no pictures of Thanksgiving. We did have a great day, but you'll have to take my word for it. We had a fabulous meal at Matt's grandparents house, and enjoyed spending time with his family. That evening we headed over to my parents house for more family fun, including Thanksgiving puppet shows put on by Kensie and Andrea. It was a great day!

Grandpa E.
A student of Arnold Friberg and Alvin Gittins, Mr. Eddington graduated with an MFA from the University of Utah in 1950. Two years later he joined the U.'s art-department faculty, eventually becoming the lead commercial-art instructor.
"When Arnold wanted a portrait of his wife painted," said Mr. Eddington's son-in-law, Mel Young, "he came to Keith and said, 'Will you do this? You're better than I am.' That's the kind of respect people had for him in the art community."
During his two-decade tenure at the U., he also found time to pursue a highly successful career as a local designer. In addition, he was a partner in Circuit and Eddington, and eventually head of Keith Eddington and Associates, one of the area's most respected graphic-design firms.
In the 1980s, Mr. Eddington became a member of Brigham Young University's design faculty, helping the institution to get the new department up and running.
As a young man, he fought in World War II. Assigned to military intelligence, Mr. Eddington drew maps and designed other publications that assisted military personnel in their assignments in Europe and the Pacific.
A few of his noted portraits include "Father Escalante" (Utah State Historical Society), Gov. Norman Bangerter (Utah State Capitol), and his 6-by-9-foot painting of the risen Lord in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. "President Hinckley asked him to do it," said Young. "It's at the entrance to the Legacy Theater."
Services for Mr. Eddington are scheduled for Monday; check weekend obituary notices for time and location.

Voulez-vous danser avec moi?
Kensie had Grandparents Day at dance this week. She could not wait for G-ma & G-pa Young to come see her dance {though she told me after class that she was just a little nervous having all those people watch her}! I love Kensie's teacher, Miss Franchesca. She's a girl after my own heart. The following videos show a few things that Kensie does in class. They even had a performance with lighting & everything!
Dancing With The Scarves {not to be confused with "stars"}
Fancy Footwork {I love the look of total boredom (or is that concentration?) on her face}
The Performance
*For those of you who weren't lucky enough to be in Mme. Potter's French class at Butler Middle School, the title of this post translates to Do you want to dance with me?
Food, Friends, Fun
I hosted Gourmet Night this month, and we had a great time, as usual {I guess I shouldn't speak for everyone! I had a great time, though}! I always look forward to these nights, even when I'm in charge. It's a lot of work, but so much fun to spend time with the girls. Topics of conversation are many and varied, but somehow potty stories seem to sneak in every time :) We always end up talking into the wee hours. I really cherish these nights. I hope they continue till we're old and gray {and talking about OUR diaper stories instead of our kids'. Ha!!}.
