The Cabin
We spent the weekend at Matt's grandparents cabin. We had such a great time! It was beautiful up there, and we had perfect weather. I grew up going to the Eddington cabin (my mom's side of the fam) & it's fun to have another cabin to go to. I remember feeling so carefree at the cabin growing up; it's funny how things change as you grow up- for example:
1. played outside with the cousins all day
2. hiked everywhere & never got {too} lost
3. stayed up late playing games
4. slept in
5. always had yummy food
6. didn't care if I was dirty
1. listen to or watch the kids play outside while I'm inside {most likely cleaning}
2. hike everywhere with the kids so they don't get lost, usually toting the baby in the Snugli
5. always cooking yummy food
Even though I have to bee the "responsible" one now and things aren't so carefree, I still love cabin fun!! Plus, it's great knowing my kids are growing up with the same fun memories. Here are a few of the things we had fun doing this trip:
Stamping
Digging
Relaxing
Jump-roping
Game Playing
Log Dancing
Snake Charming
Hiking
Reading {Junie B. Jones, of course}
Even Seal had fun!

As if I'm not obsessed enough...
Which Twilight novel character are you?

You're Carlisle Cullen - You are very intelligent and have high moral standards. You truly care about people and helping them. Your knack for solving problems and pleasing two warring sides makes you unique and a desirable friend to have, even if sometimes you have to tell people what they might not like hearing.

"Ommmmm"
I came downstairs last night after putting the baby to bed to find Kensie teaching Lincoln yoga! She is so funny!! She totally gets into it, & creates many poses that I'm sure no yoga master has ever seen before :) Her addition of the jump rope is especially interesting! Lincoln didn't want to be in the video, which is too bad because it was so much cuter with him following her- oh well! {pardon the dark video- you can't have the lights on to do yoga apparently}

A book, a fire, and a cup of cocoa is all I need!
I woke up this morning to the smell of Autumn in the air- one of the advantages of living in the mountains. You know what that means {I doubt it!}...... time to re-read the Mitford Series by Jan Karon. I don't know what it is about the fall that makes me nostalgic for these books- maybe her descriptions of the seasons, definitely her descriptions of all the delicious foods- but I have to read these books every fall. I never even think about reading them in the spring, summer, or winter! Weird, I know. I never get tired of reading about Father Tim's adventures!

We went camping this weekend {our first time all year- pathetic, I know} & had such a fun time! We drove up American Fork canyon & camped at Granite Flat. We picked a great spot that was pretty secluded, yet near a bathroom, which was a must! We spent the day hiking, getting settled, playing games and exploring. We did the usual camping things {i.e. roasted hot dogs and marshmallows, sat around the campfire} and played Old Maid by the light of the lantern that night. It was absolutely FUH-REE-ZING all night. Actually, I was the only one freezing- everyone else was cozy in their sleeping bags but I was the one getting in & out to feed the baby, calm Lincoln down when he woke up & didn't know where he was, etc. Anyway, we had a great time despite my frozen extremities!! The kids didn't want to leave as they had discovered a "secret trail" that they thought was super cool. It was a fun get-away, although I did learn a few things on this trip:
1. Bundle Me's work well as a sleeping bag.
B. When camping with a child who is being potty trained, sometimes you must resort to the Pull-Up's.
III. When your husband wakes up in the morning and says "Man, I slept great! I wasn't cold at all!", try not to run for the camping hatchet- you'll be the one cleaning up the mess anyway.

The Guys' Rules
*One of Matt's friends sent him this....I have to admit, they're pretty hilarious {and true}!!
These are our rules!
Please note... these are all numbered "1" ON PURPOSE!
1. Learn to work the toilet seat. You're a big girl. If it's up, put it down. We need it up, you need it down. You don't hear us complaining about you leaving it down.
1. Sunday sports. It's like the full moon or the changing of the tides. Let it be.
1. Shopping is NOT a sport. And no, we are never going to think of it that way.
1. Crying is blackmail.
1. Ask for what you want. Let us be clear on this one:
Subtle hints do not work!
Strong hints do not work!
Obvious hints do not work!
Just say it!
1. Yes and No are perfectly acceptable answers to almost every question.
1. Come to us with a problem only if you want help solving it. That's what we do. Sympathy is what your girlfriends are for.
1. A headache that lasts for 17 months is a problem. See a doctor.
1. Anything we said 6 months ago is inadmissible in an argument. In fact,
all comments become null and void after 7 days.
1. If you won't dress like the Victoria's Secret girls, don't expect us to act like soap opera guys.
1. If you think you're fat, you probably are. Don't ask us.
1. If something we said can be interpreted two ways and one of the ways makes you sad or angry, we meant the other one.
1. You can either ask us to do something or tell us how you want it done.
Not both. If you already know best how to do it, just do it yourself.
1. Whenever possible, please say whatever you have to say during commercials.
1. Christopher Columbus did not need directions and neither do we.
1. ALL men see in only 16 colors, like Windows default settings. Peach, for example, is a fruit, not a color. Pumpkin is also a fruit. We have no idea what mauve is.
1. If it itches, it will be scratched. We do that.
1. If we ask what is wrong and you say "nothing," we will act like nothing's wrong. We know you are lying, but it is just not worth the hassle.
1. If you ask a question you don't want an answer to, expect an answer you don't want to hear.
1. When we have to go somewhere, absolutely anything you wear is fine...Really.
1. Don't ask us what we're thinking about unless you are prepared to discuss such topics as baseball, the shotgun formation, or monster trucks.
1. You have enough clothes.
1. You have too many shoes.
1. I am in shape. Round is a shape.
1. Thank you for reading this. Yes, I know, I have to sleep on the couch tonight; but did you know men really don't mind that? It's like camping.
some things you may not know about me....
- I was in a Samba band in college called Samba Gringa.
- I've broken my pinky toe 4 times (who knew dancing could be so dangerous!).
- I love oldies music.
- I sang back-up vocals and go-go danced for many local ska & punk bands (The Soda Jerks & The Shriners to name a few) during my sr. year of high school and throughout college.
- I'm the Utah rep. for KitchenAid.
- I've visited 8 different countries.
- I've done many crazy things with my dear "Immediates"- beaver lake, O.V.T.'s, toilet papering (not just your average t.p. job!), peenie ballet, interviews at boyfriends' houses at 2:00 a.m., sneeking onto the BHS football field at night with the FSG's and getting chased by the police, the list could go on and on- I'll spare you the details because you probably wouldn't believe them anyway!!
- I went to a San Diego Padre's game with two strangers that I met at the beach on my senior trip. Luckily I had my friend Jill with me! What were we thinking??!
- I don't like pie.
- I'm a year + behind on my scrapbooks!!
- I love boating but not waterskiing.
- I have an interesting {okay, it's ugly} birthmark on my knee.
