2 Months Old!

Wow! Jackson's already 2 months old. Time flies! He is such a happy baby (even after getting shots, as you can see!) and is getting chubby! Here are his current stats:

Weight: 12 lbs. 7 oz.
Length: 22 1/2 inches
Head: who remembers this stat? Not me!
He loves smiling, especially for Matt. He's also starting to "talk" which I love. Of course he will never do it for me when I try to get it on video! He is a tummy sleeper - All you S.I.D.S. advocates will probably turn me in now, but I don't care!! Since birth he has HATED being on his back, especially to sleep. The first few weeks I was up all night with him. Finally I tried putting him on his stomach & presto! He's slept soundly ever since!! I asked the dr. about it & he gave me the okay, so don't think I'm such a bad mother! I'd REALLY be a bad mother if I was functioning on no sleep. Anyway, Jackson's a cutie & I heart him to the max!

Lincoln + crayons = TROUBLE!

He knew he was in trouble- can you tell?! He used a whole pack of diaper wipes trying to clean it off before I could see what he had done! Thank goodness for Mr. Clean Magic Eraser's!!

Travesty!

Who is this guy, anyway? Most of you have probably never seen the Doctor Who series (and therefore will not care at all about this post), but I grew up watching it thanks to my mom. It's been around for ages & the BBC has recently reincarnated it with this new guy. I've watched it once & was less than thrilled. I'm more of a purist, I guess. My favorite Doctor is Tom Baker, hands down.

Maybe I'll have to watch it again with a better attitude. Who knows, it may grow on me.

Another expensive item you'll never use (or be able to afford)

Okay, I just saw this & couldn't believe it was real! I have a hard time conceiving of a meal that would cost $205,000, let alone a pot that costs that much. However, German cookware firm Fissler doesn't seem to have a problem with it. Their 11-inch pot is studded with 200 diamonds and has solid gold handles. Fissler is insisting that the $205,000 pot can be used like any other saucepan - only I don't see why you would. Who can afford something like this and, more importantly, why am I not one of them??

BORING!

This has been a really boring week....can you tell?! We did go to my Aunt Anita's last night to watch the 24th of July fireworks, which is always fun- forgot my camera, of course! Other than that nothing exciting has happened. I haven't been on the computer too much this week as I've been watching the last season of Arrested Development (again!) during the kids' naps as well as re-reading Harry Potter #6 so I can read the final book- which I cannot wait to do! I'll admit it, I'm a H.P.E. (Harry Potter Enthusiast). I think I may be turning the kids into H.P.E.'s, too. Kensie still remembers sitting on her potty watching Harry Potter while drinking juice boxes (who knew Harry Potter was such a great potty-training tool?)! She is already planning on being Hermione for Halloween, thanks in part to the school uniform my parents brought back from London for her. Lincoln is also becoming interested in Harry Potter, though he is also interested in Peter Pan and more often than not calls them both Peter Potter. It takes awhile to figure out which one he is actually referring to!

Chris Farley Reincarnated

My sister-in-law, Alayna, sent me this & I think it is both hilarious and a little spooky!! Chris Farley fans everywhere are jumping for joy- although I'm not sure "fat guy in a little coat" will be as funny now that he's a girl!! What's her name, I wonder? I hope it's Christina. That would really make me a believer.

Sore Throat

So, I've had an excruciating sore throat all week. Went to the dr. today & sure enough....STREP THROAT! Sweet! I have no idea how I might have contracted this lovely illness. No one else in the fam has it, & I haven't been kissing any strangers lately :) What a great week for Matt to be working until 10 p.m. The kids can't seem to grasp the concept that they can't have a sip of my drink, or a bite of my food (which has been tomato soup every meal for the past 3 days) or they will get sick! I'm hoping they don't get it. Hopefully I'll feel better in a few days now that I've got meds! Anyone have any good sore throat remedies while I'm waiting??

I forgot to mention probably the most important event from last week- Matt went to the doctor for his routine check-up & everything was great!! He had been getting headaches (which was one of his first symptoms) so we were worried for awhile. I always dread these "doctor days". Matt usually comes home and has a solemn look on his face to scare me (which it does!) and then tells me he's fine. This time he didn't even bother with the face- I think he knew I was not in the mood to be tortured!

Vacation Time!

Well, it's been awhile since I've posted. There's been a lot going on! June 29th was our 8th wedding anniversary! Hard to believe. Matt got me a cute ceramic vase and some "bronze bombshell" lip gloss (year 8 is pottery and bronze!). He always gets so creative!! We had fun going out to dinner without the kids, which is a rare treat. On the 30th, Matt's whole family came into town for the week. We've had a great time together! The cousins had a blast at

the dinosaur museum.
We also went to Hogle Zoo. The kids loved seeing the animals, of course, but they thought the squirting elephant was really funny! Watch the video (under the video section).
Next on the agenda was a trip to Casper, Wyoming on the 4th of July. We went to see Matt's uncle, Bryan, who was diagnosed with a brain tumor. It was good to see him and the rest of his family. Matt's mom bought us all festive shirts & we had some family pictures taken at our sweet hotel, the C'mon Inn! The kids did a lot of swimming and loved it, of course!
We spent the evening feeding deer and watching fireworks. Aunt Stacey took us to a neighborhood that seemed to be a local hang-out for deer! They were just standing in people's yards. We got out of the car and fed them saltines. They came right up and were not afraid at all! Some people got adventurous and put the saltines in their mouths and got "kissed" by the deer!!
The next afternoon we headed back home, but stopped to see Devil's Gate and Martin's Cove. Kensie and Lincoln loved pulling the handcarts! Watch the video. It was a quick trip, but a fun one!
On Friday we blessed Jackson at our home so that everyone could attend. It was a wonderful blessing, despite the fact that Matt called the baby Lincoln once!! We just can't keep them straight :) It was good to have all the siblings and grandparents there.
Today we spent some time at the Children's Discovery Garden before Matt's brother & fam and sister had to leave. I think the kids' favorite part was the Noah's Ark fountain.
So, it's been a busy, fun week! It's always great to spend time with family. We're excited to go to Arizona in a few weeks to bake in the sweltering heat (good thing Grandma has a pool)!
p.s. I put small pictures on here so as to take up less space- click on the pictures individually to see them better!
