Treasures

someone's been leaving me treasures. i find them in very tricky places when i least expect it. i found a rock hard cheese stick in a mixing bowl recently. i'm pretty sure i may never find some of the treasures. that worries me.

It's A Beautiful Day

For the past few days we've been in a cloud up here. literally. It's been super foggy, frigid, and stormy. I love the fog. Everything is quiet. You feel like you're the only person in the world. It's quite peaceful {unless you're going up or down the mountain at night driving 2.7 miles an hour so as not to hit a deer or drive off a cliff}.
Today the fog has lifted. The storms have ceased. White snow, blue skies, and sunshine are making for some pretty amazing scenery. There's nothing like mountain views to renew your mind, body, and spirit. I need that renewal often-
that must be why I live where I do.

cuddles.........

singin' songs.......

bread making.....

book reading........

and just looking at cute baby faces.......

In-Car Entertainment

I rarely listen to music in the car nowadays. I've always got an audio book going or something like that {you wondered how I am always reading 2-3 books at a time? now you know}. I thought I'd share a few of the things I've been listening to recently:

#1

Oh, man! This one's awesome. It was gifted to Lincoln by Uncle Danny & Aunt Leah. The kids LOVE it & so do I. It's funny, cheesy, so Janene Bradyish, & teaches scripture stories in a fun way. I want to get all of them!

#2

I'm totally in C.S. Lewis mode lately. If you're a fan of him, and Michael Wilcox {he was my institute teacher so I'm a big fan} listen to this. Spiritual enlightenment.

Wanna borrow?

#3

Okay, I didn't listen to this one, but I read it while Kensie was at dance. This is a MUST READ for every woman in the throws of motherhood, and also those not too far removed. LOVED IT! I laughed...... I cried...... I cried some more.

Wanna borrow, too?

p.s. the few of you who actually 1. read this, and 2. know what google reader {or the like} is, and 3. use it will be happy to see that I've gone back to the full post. I can't disappoint my public.

Testing

This is a test. For all my google readers. I'm wondering if I should switch to the whole only show a paragraph & make you actually come to my blog to read the rest thing.....

Honestly, I don't mind doing this for other blogs I read. It's only one more click for heavens sake. But I know it irritates some people. I know that I'm less likely to comment when I'm using Google Reader, and don't we all LIVE for comments? I'm convinced that no one really reads this anyway, but if you do it would be nice to know. As Sue says:

If You Choose Not to Comment......that's fine - just be aware that I may die. Really. Because every person who reads without commenting kills off another little piece of my SOUL. I just wanted you to know. So you can, you know, have a clear conscience at my funeral. Which might be soon. No pressure though.

So, I thought I'd test it out. If you have strong feelings {or any feelings, for that matter} on the subject do share. I'll go with the majority on this.

Birthday Festivities

Lincoln had a great birthday! We were so happy to be able to celebrate with all his grandparents. I think this was the first time we had them all here. The night of his birthday we went to Texas Roadhouse, where he was super excited {and a little embarrassed} to sit on the saddle while everyone said "yee haw!". We had his birthday party the next day, and were happy that it wasn't snowing so everyone could attend! He requested a snake cake again this year, but this time he wanted it orange. He got some super fun gifts, including two of his favorite movies- Bye Bye Birdie and The Karate Kid! He also got some cool FBI gear and a sword which prompted a wrestling match with his aunts and uncles. He had a great time! Thanks, everybody!!

* right after everyone left {about 9:00 p.m.} the power went out in our neighborhood. We were without power until 12:30 the next day! Thank goodness for the fireplace. It was a cold night!!

Matt's birthday was on Sunday this year. We celebrated on Saturday with Cafe Rio, new Wii games & dress socks. What more could a 32 year old ask for?! On Sunday we celebrated at the May's & Grandma May made his favorite dessert. I think 32 will be a great year!!

The Vay-Kay Continues and Victory Is Sweet!

We're still in vacation mode around here {until Kensie goes back to school on Monday} which means too much Wii playing and not enough housekeeping! It's been wonderful having nothing to do but play and relax. Next week it's back to life, back to reality and time to think about a few birthday celebrations. Until then, we'll enjoy the last of the vay-kay!

Kensie used some of her Christmas money to buy a sled & the kids are having a hayday with it! No more sliding down the hill on foam gardening pads and rear ends!

yes, he's wearing pink gloves.....we're not picky around here.
My sister-in-law Alayna is in town this week & we're excited to spend a few days with her. We don't get to see her often enough! Matt's parents will be here next week for Lincoln & Matt's birthdays, so the fun will continue!
And now, on to SWEET VICTORY!
Wasn't the Sugar Bowl last night great?! Well, I thought so. We watched it at my parents house, along with the siblings, the kids, and apparently some heavenly beings as evidenced by the huge orb in the below photo. I'm sure it was my grandparents....they wouldn't have missed this game!
GO UTES!

This picture has nothing to do with anything. It's just awesome.
