When my friend
Brooke had her last baby she lovingly nicknamed him Buster. If you've seen
Arrested Development you will know all about Buster. If you haven't, you are missing out! For those who are not familiar with Buster, he spent 11 months in his mother's womb. He is a grown man, but his mother totally babies him.
Aidan, I now dub thee My Buster. You may not have spent 11 months in my womb {thank heavens}, we may never wear matching outfits on the cover of the Balboa Bay Window or attend Motherboy events, but I will coddle you into adulthood.
My Buster is different than my other kids {who I love just as much, but will never be Busters}.
My Buster only sits in his car seat in the car. He is not one of those babies who will sleep in his car seat for the 3 hour church block. No sticking the car seat in the shopping cart at Costco. He likes to be "worn" if you will. I literally didn't put him down for the first month {or two} of his life, and thus he spends a lot of his time in the Moby wrap or my arms- right next to my heart.
My Buster doesn't take a binky. This is new to me. All of my kids loved their binks, but he prefers his thumb/fingers. It is completely endearing and I love it. Spare me the woes of thumb-sucking orthodontia....I'll deal with that when the time comes. For now, I see him with that little thumb in his mouth and I'll give him whatever he wants. Even when he's 30. {okay, maybe not...}
My Buster has no teeth, is not interested at all in solids, and will not take a bottle. By 5 months most of my kids had a few teeth, were eating their peas and carrots like champs, and took a bottle whether it be formula or breast milk. The one thing I have hated about my other babies getting older is that my milk has dried up at about 6 months. That meant no more breast feeding. It was an easy transition for them, but not for me. With my Buster, he is still going strong and so far no sign of mommy's milk drying up yet. I prayed for this. I wanted to be able to nurse longer. So, I am cherishing this time when I am all he needs.....when he can't be away from me for more than a few hours.....when I can go anywhere and not have to load up the diaper bag with bottles and formula and baby food.
I will nurse him to sleep. I will carry him everywhere. I will let him get away with anything {almost}.
He will always be my baby.
He will always be my Buster.
