whew.

Remember when it was summer and we stayed in our pj's (or swim suits) all day and did nothing but eat popcicles and relax? That. Was. Awesome!

I miss the days of having nothing to do and nowhere to be.

My days (and nights) right now are filled to the brim. Between school carpools, work 3 days a week, dance, flag football, piano, homework, weekday mutual and Sunday teaching I don't have a free day to catch my breath. Heaven help me when I have ALL the kids involved in extra-curriculars.....

Part of me likes being busy. I feel like I'm accomplishing and providing......though mostly for other people. Such is the life of a mother. I'm fairly spent by the end of each day, but I am telling myself to enjoy this stage of life- for soon I will have teenagers who will exhaust me even more.

In other news, my mountain is ushering in Autumn with reds, oranges, and yellows. Although I'm still sporting shorts and flip-flops every day and the house is full of open-window breezes, the evening brings a chill that makes me suddenly long for a pot of chili and some pumpkin bread. My favorite season is upon us!

Also, we have new neighbors at the brothel house. Against all odds, they are an amazing family who is fixing the place up, has super cute kids (older than mine but who cares!) and shares our beliefs. My prayers have been answered.

Flag Football

Lincoln started flag football last week. He has been so excited for this! They're still learning what to do, but his team is great and they are having so much fun. So far they have three plays that they run, Red Hawk, Black Hawk, and QB Sneak. Lincoln loves playing all the positions, but I think he likes running the ball the most. He's been close to a touchdown several times, but hasn't gotten one yet....

Preschool!

Jackson was SO excited to start preschool! He was up and dressed and ready to go with the other kids, and was disappointed that he had to wait an hour until it was his turn. He loved riding the bus but said he didn't talk to anyone because he just felt like being shy.

He was really quiet after school and I was hoping he hadn't had a bad day, but he told me he was just hungry. After lunch he talked and talked about how much fun he had!

Back To School Celebration

We had our annual Back To School Celebration the night before school started. We read jokes, dined on Thai food (it's tradition now. The kids expect "Waterfall" {or Nam Tok} every year!), and unveiled the family theme for the year.

and the theme for the year is......

our theme came from this scripture
to help us as we try to be an example we will:  pray, read our scriptures 5 minutes, and SMILE every day!

The kids opened their goodie bags, Matt gave the kids blessings, and then it was time to celebrate!!

We took the silly string outside......good idea, Matt!

Here's to a great year!!!

Open House

The day before school started we attended the school open house where the kids got to meet their teachers.

Jackson is super excited for preschool! Can you tell?! Get ready, Mrs. Chris!!

Lincoln has Mrs. Burnside. She loves all things Disney.

Kensie has her first male teacher. He is new at the school and she was so worried that he was going to be a grumpy, ugly old man. She lucked out- he is young and funny! I love the difference between the male teachers window decorations and the female teachers. You know he made his wife write all the names....

Last Days

We packed the last two weeks of summer vacation with as much fun as we could! We made multiple trips to:

The farm, gardens, and dinosaur museum (as well as the ice cream shop afterwards)

the zoo

and the swimming pool {no pictures. Taking 4 kids to the pool by myself and actually documenting it with photos is beyond me}.

Just in time for school....

He's hoping he loses the other one in time for school pictures so he can put an orange peel in his mouth {you've all seen that commercial, right?!}.
