Road Trip Tips

I'm in the midst of all the prep work to get ready for our annual road trip to Arizona. My kids usually do well in the car {minus a few puking incidents that will hopefully be cured with Dramamine this time around}.

They each have their own special box that I fill with treats, treasures, and boredom busters. This year I made these to add:

The License Plate Game
color in each state as you see its license plate

Road Signs
cross off, color over, etc. each sign you see

Roadside Objects
cross off, color over, etc. each thing you see

Transportation Travel
cross off, color over, etc. each vehicle you see

Slug Bug game
cross off, color over, etc. each slug bug you see
I'd love more ideas.....

So, what things do you do to keep your kids entertained on road trips???

I just went to an enrichment about this and my friend said she just went on a road trip with her kids and she took tape and tin foil. Then gave the kids some and had contests on what they could make. She said they all had tin foil hads on by the end and that the kids (and parents) loved it and laughed alot. Have fun on the drive and give Lanz a hug for me when you get there:)

I don't have any great ideas, but I love yours! Too bad there is a huge "sample" across them so I couldn't copy them when Sav is older! ha ha! You are such a good mom! Have fun but don't die of heat exhaustion!

Dar, fun ideas! I'll have to remember those the next time we have a long drive. I don't have any super clever ideas. My kids are good in the car too, so we're usually ok with "I spy," eating snacks, the alphabet game, eating snacks, reading books, or doing workbooks, eating snacks, and watching a movie. Usually in that order...:)

Great ideas!!! We do the movie thing, as well as lots of snacks and handheld video games. My kiddos also like workbooks/coloring books. Another favorite of my children is playing with pipe cleaners. (My mom's idea). It is fun to see the shapes and creatures they create with them. They are inexpensive and you can get them at any craft store. (Super great to keep them quiet during sacrament meeting as well.) My kids played with them for the entire meeting last time we visited my folks. Good luck!!!

These are all such great ideas! My friend makes little travel booklets where they cross of the mileage and have activities as they go, and then every 50 miles or something they get a new "present"...usually something from the dollar store.

We're moving across the country in acouple weeks and I'm totally using your ideas. They are excellent, and I have been searching for something fun to do for 4 days of driving!
