My Neighborhood Grocer

This post is a testament to how truly pathetic my life has become:

Our Harmons opened today! Hallelujah! The kids & I went to check it out today and it did not disappoint. Pretty sad that I get so excited about a grocery store, but I've been eagerly anticipating this for months. Artisan breads, international cheeses, gelato bar, gourmet olive bar, market bistro, cooking school & free fruit for the kids- how could I NOT be excited? I'm also diggin' the drive n' load idea. We even got to meet Bob :)

Goodbye, Albertsons. I will not miss you.

The Apostle Song

We learned the Apostle Song for FHE last week. Kensie learned it so fast, and now she dances around the house singing it non-stop! Lincoln gets as far as Thomas S. Monson & he's done, but whenever Kensie sings it he says "Mom, that prophet song is beautiful". We tried to get Kensie to perform it yesterday for the home teachers but she was too shy. She did sing it for G-ma & G-pa Young and Spencer & Andrea, who were very impressed :)

Flashback Friday

It's been awhile.....

This one's not from my trip but I had to include it. My brother sent it to me. Gotta love Japanese translations!

A Little Dinner Entertainment

If you're looking for a little mood music to go with your dinner tonight LOOK NO FURTHER! Of course, you'll have to eat by your computer.....and you have exactly seven minutes and thirty-four seconds to eat before the music runs out {unless you check out the first installment of "music while you eat"}. I love the Amateur Gourmet!

Move Over David Blaine

Kensie's becoming quite the magician, thanks to the Comcast On Demand children's section. She's also learned some cheerleading {I'll have to get a video of that soon!}. She's very proud of her tricks.

Spring Break Shenanigans

We've had a fun spring break this past week. Some of the high {and low} lights include:

• bike riding
• rock collecting
• making treats
• reading
• getting sick
• going to the tulip festival at thanksgiving point {sans tulips....we'll be going back!}
• trying to go to the zoo, but ending up at the park after seeing the line
• making dancing ribbons
• playing in the dirt
• playing baseball with grandpa
• making forts

Back to school tomorrow!

Two Wheelin'

On Saturday Kensie learned how to ride her bike without her training wheels {she's been begging to learn forever}. I know, I know....it's about time! Well, if you know the street we live on then you know why. Living on a hill is not ideal for bike riding. Thus, we've been waiting for 1- our church building to get finished and 2- the snow to melt. We finally got the chance! I think it took her about 15 minutes to learn, and now she's a pro. She can't stop talking about how good she is :) She's on spring break this week, so I have a feeling we'll be up at the church every day!

Why I wish my kids would breastfeed longer:

I've known about this for awhile & try to steer clear of the plastic, but I've been naive about the baby bottles. After all, they wouldn't make a bottle that wasn't safe for kids, right?? My Gerber and Avent bottles have NO numbers! Avent's website says their bottles are made of polycarbonate (didn't give a number) & while they had a convincing blurb about why they're safe I'm tempted to toss them. But then I'd have to toss my pump, too, because it only works with their bottles. What to do? Still can't find anything on Gerber bottles.....does anyone use glass??

The Room

Here are some pics of the "finished" basement bedroom. No decor yet, but hey, it's a place to rest your head if you come visit! The plumber's coming today to get the bathroom ready so there will even be a toilet to rest your.....
You'll have to march upstairs to use the shower or brush your teeth, though. Hey, it's a work in progress. Thanks, Rich (my amazing FIL) for the awesome room!!

Just after the carpet was laid. The paint has a greenish tint which is more apparent in photographs without the flash on, as you can see in the next pic.

No idea what Lincoln is doing in this pic! Probably something to annoy his brother.
