Do you ever feel like you have a billion things you'd like {or need} to blog about, but just can't bring yourself to do it? This has been me for the past week. It's part laziness, part too many distractions, part it makes me emotional so I don't want to think about it.....
Well, today's the day! I figure I owe it to the one person who actually reads this blog to share these things that I've been putting off, no matter how trivial some of them may seem.
Without further ado.....the list begins-

Most of the blog world has heard about Stephanie and Christian {if you haven't, click on the Nie Recovery button in the sidebar or see her sister cjane's blog for more details}. I have been thinking about {and praying for} them and their cute kids every day since their accident, but haven't been able to put my thoughts into words. I've read Stephanie's blog for years. I don't know why, but I feel that I know her. A "kindred spirit" kind of feeling. How is it that you can feel such strong feelings of friendship, caring, heartache, and love for someone you've never actually met? Maybe it's because I can imagine myself in her situation. I can imagine my kids being lovingly taken care of by family members. I can imagine the fear, pain, and peace that she and Christian are and will be feeling in the months to come. I can imagine what their families are going through. Their faith in the gospel has strengthened mine. I KNOW that we have a loving Heavenly Father who has a plan for each one of us, and we can overcome anything through His power.
NUMBER TWO
The Fire
I was out shopping with my MIL when I got a call from my friend, Erin, informing me that the mountain across the street from our neighborhood was on fire. We drove home and could not believe our eyes! It looked so far away, but as we got nearer to home it began to look dangerously close. I began vigorously copying all important documents {something that I've been meaning to do for years but had yet to do, even despite the Provident Living moment in Relief Society (the day before) reminding us to get it all in order}. I regretted that we didn't have a fire safe, and started making mental notes of what to grab if we had to leave. Fortunately, it didn't come to that. The kids found the fire fascinating, and so did I once I knew it wasn't headed our way.
NUMBER THREE
The New Dryer
After learning that our dryer had seen it's day & would cost more to fix than a new one, we marched down to Costco & scooped up a brand new beauty. Sure, it isn't the cute, high-tech one I was dreaming of in my earlier post, BUT it dries my clothes and isn't that really all that matters?
*these above 3 events have really got me pondering what is most important to me in my life.
Do I really need all the bells, whistles, and gadgets that the world says I can't live without? NO! I am perfectly happy with things that sufficiently do the job I need them to do. I don't need all the "extras".
If I had to leave my home & all my possessions behind, would it really be so bad? I've realized that I can live without all the "stuff". Sure, I'd miss all the things I've lovingly worked so hard on {scrapbooks, etc.} but as long as I have my family with me and safe I'm convinced that I wouldn't care one whit about everything else. Lehi did it. The pioneer's did it. I think I could do it, too, if I had to.
NUMBER FOUR
We went to Lincoln's Preschool open house last week. He is super excited {right now, anyway} to go to preschool. He starts on Thursday.....we'll see how he feels then! I think he'll love it.
NUMBER FIVE
A Game Of "Would You Rather..."
Yesterday Matt & I played a game of "would you rather".
Would you rather do the dishes or change Jackson's messy diaper?
Which do you think he chose???
*if you thought neither, then you guessed right.
NUMBER SIX
Football Season Has Begun!!
NUMBER SEVEN
An Afternoon Rain Storm Courtesy of Gustav
I know. These pictures make it look like a warm, sunny day! Trust me, it WAS raining, and it wasn't this sunny for long! We had wicked rain all night last night and this morning. I LOVE IT!
FALL is in the air......
and finally-
NUMBER EIGHT
Lincoln's Prayer
Lincoln tends to be very long-winded lately when saying prayers. On this particular occasion he was saying the blessing on the food. He blessed, and was thankful for, everything on this planet EXCEPT FOR the food. When he was done, Matt asked "What about the food?". Lincoln's reply....."Oh. I missed."

We tend to miss the food a lot in our prayers too! :) Good post, it's nice to put life in perspective and think about what really matters!
Good post, D.
Micah and I were just saying that the other day when we were looking for a new bbq/grill. Why does everything have to be so big and fancy and have all the bells and whistles? We decided to get a simple one that does the job, probaly like your dryer. Wise choice.
Um, my sister was reading her sister-in-law's blog and she posted a recipe that she said she found on, you guess, yes cookbookjunkies.blogspot.
I never knew strangers liked our blog so much.
What the?

go ahead....make my day.
